What if My Fridge Doesn't Reach the Right Temperature?

This could be caused by one of many reasons but before we put it down to your fridge being faulty, please note that the temperature on the controller is not necessarily the temperature inside the fridge.

To test the true temperature of the fridge, please follow the probe test below.

Probe Test

Try putting a glass of water inside your fridge and leave it for a few hours.

Once this time has passed, probe the water and fridge temperature will be presented. The controller may have a different temperature as it adjusts to keep the fridge temperature steady.

If the temperature of the water is still not correct, please follow the below points.

Incorrect Fridge Settings

Usually outside of the fridge you will see a control panel. If it is not here, check inside.

If your fridge is not as cold as youโ€™d like it to be, it may be that this has been knocked. Adjusting this should result in your fridge once again reaching the desired temperature.

Blocked Air Vents

A fridge which is too full or is badly stocked can result in items blocking the air vents, which prevents the air from circulating correctly and stops the fridge from getting cool. Rectify this by carefully placing your produce in your fridge. It is recommended to make sure food / jars arenโ€™t touching the back or sides of your fridge.

Fridge Placement

If the unit is in a doorway, draft prone area or directly in the sunlight this can affect the temperature.

If the unit is kept in a shed, mancave, she-shed or garage where the temperature is typically colder, the unit will not say at a set temperature on the controler but should be cold enough to hold produce.

Ambient Room Temperature

Refrigeration systems rely on the boiling of refrigerant under pressure and heat. When the ambient temperature is below a certain temperature, it takes more energy to make the refrigerant boil and change into a vapor. And the energy consumption increases with the decreasing temperature which causes there to be no cooling capacity at all.

Dust & Dirt

Sometimes a fridge may start working in an unexpected manner due to the missed upkeep of cleaning.

Dust and dirt can effect all parts of the fridge and the condenser not being cleaned regularly can cause some issues, mainly an influx in temperature.
